| I really like The Wind Waker because Link risks everything just to save his little sisy. Some times i really wish my bro (Who is FierceDietyLink) would do something like that for me. -Princess_of_Destiny |

| Well, a rather random topic considering this is the "discussion boards". But a perfect chance to rant! But where to start?
Well, Windwaker was for sure one of my all time favorite Zelda games! But you have to remember, I played it soon after it came out, at which time strangely enough it was getting a lot of greef!
Windwaker was NOT a very popular game upon release, mainly because of a lot of hardcore adventure fans complaining due to the change in style and graphics. And to be honest, the last big Zelda title, Majora's Mask, scared away the casual fan following that Ocarina of Time had attracted. So really, only the true fans felt at home with this title! For a lot of critics it seemed like the Zelda series was just living off of Ocarina of Time's afterglow. Which we really can't prove or disprove due to so many other Zelda titles being released at that time including Ocarina of Time's rerelease "Master Quest" and the first FourSwords title which came complete with a GBA port of A Link to the Past. So even despite Windwaker's starting inpopularity, Zelda was still doing pretty good for itself. Slowly people warmed up to Windwaker. Surprisingly faster than Majora's Mask which to this day remains a "Zelda fans' only" title. But even with this and the continuation of the surprisingly popular FourSwords title. Nintendo knew that it would have to bring out something big for the Wii. Something that could unify the casual gamers, hardcore gamers, and existing Zelda followers in Nintendo's fanbase. THUS! Twilight Princess was born! A game who's instant popularity overshadowed nearly all earlier titles with only OOT still managing to shine. While true Zelda fans still debate it's popularity compared to other titles, there's no one in any fanbase who questions the acclaim it recieved!
But in the end, Windwaker has only gotten better with age. Be it your first Zelda game, or your last, it's the type of open-ended, immersive world that only comes along once or twice a console generation! And if there's one thing that game has taught me, if any thing at all......it's that.........YOU DON'T MESS WITH PIRATES!!!! |

| Mine too.
Funny that such a happy game would get me hooked! But I loved it. I would spend weekends playing this. Since it was so long ago, I was like 8, when I would play pretend, I WOULD PRETEND TO BE A FREAKING RITO.
And to this day, I am still obsessed! My thanks to you, Wind Waker! |
